Royal Wootton Bassett Women’s 1s opened their league campaign in style, overcoming early-season absences to secure a confident 3–1 victory away at Corsham. With several regulars unavailable through injury and university open days, this was a real test of squad depth—and one the team passed with flying colours.

Bassett struck early, setting the tone when Jessica Dixon pounced in the 10th minute to give the visitors the lead. The advantage was doubled midway through the first half as Anel Neville finished clinically in the 25th minute, rewarding the side’s sustained pressure.

After the break, Bassett continued to press and were rewarded again in the 60th minute when Lizzie McLaughlan coolly slotted home to make it 3–0. Corsham battled hard and were cheered on by the home crowd, eventually grabbing a consolation through Emily Bygraves in the 65th minute. But Bassett’s defence ensured there would be no late drama.

The 3–1 scoreline reflected a disciplined, energetic performance from a squad that blended experience with fresh faces. It was a statement win to kick off the season, showing both resilience and attacking flair despite the absences.
