Bassett played at home to Swindon C on Saturday. Due to last week’s 3-0 win over West Wilts E, Bassett were feeling confident of the match ahead. Over the past few weeks this new team has gelled and is now a ‘growing’ force in the league to be reckoned with. The first half was a well fought battle for Bassett, a goal for Pete Sammon gave the hosts a start they needed and an early lead. But with a few minutes to go Swindon C equalised from the back post, making the score 1-1 at half time. However after a great half time team talk the second half was a very different story for Bassett. A great goal from Tom Ponting dribbling past three men gave Bassett the advantage with the score hanging at 2-1. Swindon E then equalised at the far post after a great cross and Bassett knew they had to regroup, focus and push on hard for the next goal. Bassett kept pushing and pushing and with great goals from Rob Pamphilon, Tony Cooper and Grant Kirkup gave Bassett a significant and well deserved 5-2 win. A great team effort by all.
