After a slow start from both teams Swindon gradually gained the upper hand and scored mid way through the first half with a well taken goal from a rebound following a good save by keeper Mike Hayward. Bassett struggled to make good use of possession throughout the game and credit goes to the defenders for preventing further Swindon scoring. With only one goal separating the teams the result was in the balance right to the end and a couple of late breaks saw the home team squander chances to draw level. Overall though the Swindon win was a fair reflection of the game. Player of the Match was awarded to keeper Mike Hayward.
