Bassett sailed to another victory on Saturday against Bath Buccs. However, it was Buccs who opened the scoring after some strong play. It wasn’t long before Bassett found an equaliser, Matt Jakubiec scoring a somewhat controversial goal that didn’t please the visitors. Jakubiec added a second before Grant Kirkup blasted home a third from a penalty corner. Later in the half Pete Sammon added his name to the score sheet. The half finished with an Anthony Matthews goal.
At the start of the second half Bath came out fighting and managed to get another goal. However Jakubiec then quickly completed his hat-trick before adding his fourth and fifth goals of the match. The score line was completed when Basssett worked a great passing move which led to the final goal of the game, converted by Matthews.
The win leaves Bassett at the top of Wilts & NE Somerset Division 1 with 6 points and a goal difference of +11.
