Wootton Bassett 0-3 Bournemouth 2nds
Bassett remain in 5th place
From the start Bassett knew this would be one of their toughest matches at home. Bassett started the better of the two teams with the majority of possession and making attacks look easy, but unfortunately they were unable to capitalise on this great spell of play with the Bournemouth keeper having a blinder in goal! Bournemouth soon started to organise themselves more efficiently after working out how Bassett were playing and the match became a lot more even for the remainder of the half. Just before half time Bournemouth were awarded a short corner which they took advantage of and slotted the ball past Megan Emms in goal.
The goal just before the half time whistle seemed to unsettle the Bassett side and they never seemed to get back to the form they were in for the first fifteen minutes of the match. Bournemouth scored their second not long into the second half and Bassett looked a little deflated but continued to try and turn defence into attack. Katy Cox, Eleanor Hayward and Rebekah Taylor all came close with chances but the keeper continued to make some great saves to allow Bournemouth to remain in the lead. Bournemouth got their third and final goal minutes from the end whistle when a chance from a break-down of a short corner fell to an attacker near the right post who faked a hard hit which fooled Emma Collison who then couldn’t recover to make a second tackle and the ball was neatly converted past Emms. Player of the match went to Helen Wright in defence for her solid play at the back and great tackles throughout the game. Bassett face Devizes at home next Saturday.
