Two goals from Emma Collison and a player of the match performance from Helen Wright were not enough to prevent an 11-2 defeat.

Wootton Bassett Ladies travelled to Henley on Thames expecting a very tough match against the 2012/13 England Hockey Women's Trophy champions. These expectations were soon realised with Henley piling on the pressure right from the start of the match. Despite the defence doing all it, and a player of the match performance by central defender Helen Wright, Henley's dominance quickly told with the home side running out to a 7 - 0 half time lead.

Wootton Bassett regrouped at half time and made some tactical changes. Freshly motivated by an inspiring team talk from captain Emma Langdon and their heads held high, Wootton Bassett found themselves with some slick passing up the field resulting in a cracking goal from Emma Collison. Wootton Bassett kept up the fight and Collison added her second to pull another goal back, but Henley were too strong for Bassett and closed out the match for an 11-2 win.

Bassett can take heart from the 2nd half performance and will look to take the experience gained into their remaining league fixtures of 2013.
