11 men Bassett learn a lot from strong display from Marlborough and improve performance as they game went on.

Marlborough started strongly and broke down the Bassett defence quite quickly but failed to beat Jack Rose in the Bassett goal. Bassett did not let pressure get to them and mounted an attack of their own Anthony Matthews and John Terry combining but were unlucky with the final ball and later with Tony Cooper's shot going wide. It took a good ten minutes before Marlborough finally managed to break Bassett down; a good passing move was quickly finished off. Marlborough kept the pressure going and kept increasing the score as Bassett failed to get clear from their 16 hit-outs. Bassett were also cruelly punished for mistakes in the D creating several short corners some were converted but man of the match Jack Rose managed to save several of them. Bassett kept positive and made good use of the width. At half time Marlborough led 7-0.

Bassett at the break were given new instructions and planned on half court pressing the opposition. This made it hard for Marlborough to break Bassett down. Bassett then conceded another short corner which Marlborough quickly converted. Bassett displayed great passion and kept fighting with defenders constantly taking the pain and Jack Rose making heroic saves. Bassett almost looked to have scored mid way through the second half when Anthony Matthews found the ball out wide beat his player and played a long ball into the D for the running Luke Salisbury who was unlucky not to get a touch on it. Bassett did manage to score after sometime, Matthews beat his player on the wing and reversed it into the D for John Terry, who got ahead if his marker and slotted it home. Bassett looked much stronger in the closing 15 minutes and work effort could not be faulted as they worked a strong half court press. Bassett did concede a late goal and it finished 1-10. Bassett showed a real commitment to the game with a bare 11 and learnt a lot from Marlborough who arguably should be 2 divisions higher. Bassett will look to take the positives out of this game, of which there are many, and use this to play well next week when facing bottom of the league Devizes B.
