Wootton Under Edge 4-5 Wootton Bassett

Both teams started strongly however it was Wooton who took the lead in the match beating the defence to score. Bassett managed to come back into the game when a fast attack found Rob White who powered past the keeper. Bassett looked promising in the final third of the pitch and scored a second this time Mike Davies pushing it home from the top of the D. Bassett later in the half made it 1-3 a good attack from Bassett saw Pete Sammon's pass (secretly a shot) find Rob white who put in his second.

Bassett were not as strong starting in the second half and mistakes started to show with passing errors when clearing from 16 yard hit-outs. Bassett's passing slipped further even whilst on the attack. Wootton found their way back into the match with goals from a short corner and from Bassett failing to clear their lines. Wootton went on to take the lead creating an exciting 20 minutes of the second half. Bassett fought back and Rob White went onto score his hat trick and further score his fourth to give Bassett the lead. The visitors were able to maintain their 1 goal lead until the final whistle.

Bassett will have to step up the tempo for next week's away game at City of Bath B and cut out the mistakes. But Bassett can take a lot of positives out of the first game back and hopefully build on them for the rest of the season.
